Frequently Asked Questions
How do you source your people data?
MapX aggregates data from across the web for publicly available profiles. Sources include search engines, company websites, social media profiles, news/media outlets and more.
Will my searches be private from other users?
Yes, only you will have access to your projects you create and see your search history. You can control who you share projects with from to share specific projects with other users from within your organisation.
Is MapX GDPR compliant?
Yes, MapX is fully GDPR compliant and has been developed with EU regulations specifically in mind. Our terms and conditions set out our specific GDPR policies.
How do you generate diversity stats?
The diversity stats we show are an estimate. To generate them, we use US, UK and European census data which gives a diversity prediction based on name. We only show diversity stats on a sample of a minimum number of people. This ensures diverse characteristics can’t be directly associated with an individual and enables a 90%+ accuracy rate vs a self-declared sample.
How frequently is the data updated/refreshed and how does that happen?
Our target is to have no profile older than 30 days in MapX and 95% of our data meets that target at any time.
Do you have data on privately held companies?
MapX is focused on companies which are the most common targets for leadership and executive recruitment. This includes all the largest public and private companies in the world. MapX is also focused on Private Equity owned businesses and SMEs and has a large database of both. In total there are over 250k companies currently on MapX.
How is MapX different from Linkedin Navigator, LinkedIn Recruiter, Boardex, Gartner TalentNeuron, LinkedIn Insights and ZoomInfo?
MapX occupies a distinct space within the people analytics, sales and recruitment software space. It is the only platform of its kind focused specifically on leadership and executive roles. Its algorithms have been honed for this purpose and data indexed in a specific way to increase accuracy when finding or hiring people at senior levels. MapX has been developed and trained by a team with over 100 years combined experience in executive search. By optimising for senior and executive positions, MapX produces less false positives and noise that are typically found in other platforms. MapX combines this with a data analytics suite which has been developed in partnership with HR strategy and Talent Acquisition teams from a large number of corporate businesses. In short, MapX’s focus on executive roles and the requirements of understanding talent and finding the right people at this level is its main differentiating factor.

MapX searches across English-written profiles and has good global coverage with a particular focus on the US and UK/Europe.

Our mission is to be the platform that powers executive hiring. We believe the future of executive search is a blend of specialised AI and skilled practitioners who use data analytics to educate and advise on hiring.
In 2020, a team at Savannah Group, an established executive search firm, started building data analytics and data science capabilities. Frustrated at the lack of leadership-specific research tools, and with a desire to improve executive hiring, we built our own talent identification and analytics platform to add additional rigour, data, insight and pace. The tool is MapX.
Since 2022, the Savannah Group team have been using MapX to enhance their Executive Search services and add more value to clients with additional talent intelligence services.
MapX has been tested on hundreds of hiring scenarios from the world’s largest, fastest growing and most demanding businesses and is designed to enable recruitment teams to be more strategic and more productive.
